Tamara Tatham commits to Umass
January 2003
First year Sultan Tamara Tatham has committed to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Tamara stands 6' 1", weights in at 145lbs and plays her high school basketball at Chinguacousy Secondary School in Brampton Ontario. She played a big part in helping the Chiefs finish second in their board, thus allowing them to advance to O.F.S.S.A. Tamara averaged 20 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks per game this season. Tamara committed early to Umass along with Joyce Massey a 5' 11" swing player out of Martin Luther King High School in Detroit.
"I am pleased to add these two young ladies to the Umass basketball family," said Umass head coach Marnie Dacko. "These players have both been very well coached and take as much pride in their defensive skills as they do on the offensive side of the floor. They both exemplify the type of well- rounded student-athlete we look for and the Umass community should enjoy watching their development over the next four season." Coach Dacko added, "Tamara will run the floor well for us and provide a presence inside."
Tamara is a great athlete with all the tools, she can handle the ball on the offensive end, she can shoot the ball out to 15' and post up defenders, but her strength is her speed and ability to get up and down the court.Tamara also has the ability to defend anywhere on the court. Head coach Fergy Neves has kept an open line of communications with Umass assistant Mary Ciuk and in conversations we have confirmed that our team concepts are similar. This will benefit Tamara's progress and preparation for next season, coach
Ciuk has asked us to work on specific skills that they require from their personnel and this will be a focus for us this season.
Tamara had a very long list of schools recruiting her and she narrowed it down to Umass, Seton Hall and Western Carolina. She was able to visit Umass and Western Carolina before the early signing period was over. Tamara felt comfortable with both schools, their staff and with the help of her family she felt the Umass was the best fit. The process was long and frustrating at times, but Tamara is very happy with her decision and she is looking forward to attending Umass in the fall. We at Sultan Prospects feel that Tamara will be a great ambassador for our program and she will help open doors for future Sultan players. We plan to do what ever we can to help her with the transition to the next level.

ColorShadow Communications Steps Up For Prospects
December 12, 2003
Sultan Prospects has been working on the completion of a website for about a year and a half. Because we are a non-for-profit and new Organization, it was difficult to produce the money needed up front. We had gone through several designers who could not produce the product we wanted with our limited budget and there seemed to be no progress.
ColorShadow Communications was approached in the fall of 2002 this was meeting of old friends. Damian Tran, the owner of ColorShadow and Fergy Neves had been friends for years and discussions were casual because Damian had built his company up to be a front - runner in the industry and out of financial range for Sultan Prospects. Damian kept an open mind about the idea and offered to help Colorshadow would supply their services and resources at an exceptional price. Reasonable payments plans were put in place allowing this project to move forward. This was a new challenge for ColorShadow, one they welcomed with open arms.
Marcus Woodley of ColorShadow was assigned the project and he began to put a plan into action. Marcus was also an old friend and this made the working relationship a strong one. The end result is a great site that will promote our student athletes for years to come. The work done by the staff of ColorShadow is incredible. They have created a basketball specific site with very little direction from Sultans. Both parties educated each other on their specific fields of expertise and the site was created from scratch not copied from others. This makes the site very unique and reader friendly. The website is a great example of mutual respect between friends and the belief in helping today's youth achieve the highest goals.

Team News
July 2002
In July of 2002, Sultan Prospects Juvenile women participated in the Youth Basketball of America National tournament in Polk County Florida, just outside Orlando. The team went 1 win and 5 loses, but the loses were close and we feel that we are not too far off the American talent base. Looking to return annually, the organization is registered with YBOA in hopes of hosting our own tournament in Canada. In September 2002 Fergy Neves became the Canadian Ambassador for YBOA in efforts to promote and develop the Canadian talent. With the help of YBOA headquarters in Orlando, Sultan Prospects will host two tournaments in June 2003. We have also competed in Ohio Girls Basketball tournaments annually and were asked to run a tournament in Canada. Ohio Girls Basketball has grown and become Girls Basketball of America, they've expanded to cover several States and now bringing their teams to Canada becomes more important than ever. We've always maintained that the exposure is south of the border, this is why we travel to Florida, Ohio, Erie and other States, but not everyone is in a position to do this. This is why we are planning to run tournaments annually where we invite American teams to Canada, thus bringing the competition here and making it more affordable for our local teams.
